Bunuelos
Ingredients
- 1pkg La Abuela Ready-to- Cook Tortillas
- 2 cups Sugar
- 2TBS Cinnamon
- Vegetable oil
Directions
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a pie or cake pan and set aside. Heat about 1" of vegetable oil in a deep skillet on high heat. Deep fry each tortilla until golden brown, pressing down on tortilla with a spatula to prevent it from puffing up. Set tortilla on paper towels to drain. While still hot, dip in sugar/cinnamon mixture and shake off excess.
Carne Molida Turnovers
Ingredients
- 6 La Abuela Ready-to-Cook Flour Tortillas
- 1TBS. Olive Oil
- 1/2 lb Lean Ground Beef
- 1 Clove of Garlic (minced)
- 1/2 Small Onion (minced)
- 1 TBS Salt
- 1 Serrano Pepper- seeded and minced (optional)
Directions
Heat oil in a medium skillet on medium high heat. Cook the onion, until soft, add garlic and simmer for 1 to 2 more minutes. add meat, brown thoroughly, season with salt and pepper. Add serrano and simmer for 5 more minutes. Place 2 tbs of meat mixture in center of uncooked tortilla and fold in half. Press edges together with fork. Perforate top of turnover several times and brush with milk or egg. Bake in a conventional or toaster oven at 350°F for 5 to 6 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Carne Guisada Tacos
Ingredients
- 10 La Abuela Ready-to-Cook Flour Tortillas (cooked)
- 1 small minced onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 Lb. Top sirloin or chuck steaks diced small
- 2 tomatoes blended in the mixer
- 2 Serrano peppers (blended with the tomatoes) (optional)
Directions
Heat the oil on medium high. Add the onion and cook for 2 minutes or until transparent. Add the garlic and cook for 2 more minutes. Add the meat and brown thoroughly on all sides. Season with salt and pepper. Add the tomato, bring to a boil, lower the heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Cook uncovered until sauce thickens.
Cook 10 La Abuela Tortillas and keep them warm
Place 2 oz. of carne guisada on each tortilla and roll

Fajita Tacos
Ingredients
- 10 La Abuela Ready-to-Cook Flour Tortillas (cooked)
- 1 lb. inside skirt
- sirloin or chuck steak
- 1 large diced onion
- 1 diced green pepper
- 2 Serrano peppers (or more to taste)
- 2 tbs. Olive oil
Directions
Heat oil over medium high heat. Add the onion and cook for 1 minute. Add the green pepper and cook for another minute. Add the Serrano and cook for two minutes. Add the meat, brown it very well add salt and pepper to taste.
Place two tbs. of the meat mixture on a La Abuela Tortilla and fold.
Sincronizadas
Ingredients
- 2 La Abuela Ready-to-Cook Flour Tortillas (cooked)
- 2oz Mozarella Cheese (shredded or sliced)
- 1/4 Medium Avocado (or to taste) mashed
- Diced tomato or salsa (to taste)
Directions
Heat skillet to medium high. Place cheese between tortillas and heat until cheese melts, turning once. Remove from skillet and top with mashed avocado and salsa. Salt to taste.
